100 years have now passed since “the lamps went out all over Europe”. One century after the World War I, the current events over the international political panorama display some similarities with the state of play before 1914. This could be a recurring statement from a pessimist observer, but it will make much more sense whether this point of view is shared by one of the greatest living historians; if we also take into account that the historian we are talking about is Margaret MacMillan, who probably is the most authoritative expert of WWI dynamics, we should better look at the international situation with unprecedented attention and clarity of mind to interpret current facts properly. ...more
