Do study, study and study. Word of a lobbyist. Palazzolo interviewed by GWPR
Mariella Palazzolo, at Telos A&S, interviewed by Germana Barba at Global Woman in PR Italia, describes herself as ‘proudly a lobbyist and proudly a businesswoman’.
She talks about her thirty-year experience in the lobbying sector: “lobbyists do not spend their time jumping from a cocktail party to another. Instead, they devote their time to the political and regulatory analysis, studying…in short, we are nerds!”
Lobbying means representing an interest – and, in the case of consultants, a client’s interest – to Institutions, at all levels, from the EU to a little municipality, illustrating a regulatory problem with a regulatory solution.
And, to those who wish to enter this world, she suggests:
- learn English perfectly, but even before that, be able to properly argue in your own language
- have a thorough knowledge of Italian political history
- have a good command of public law and legislative processes.
